Preamble
Echo is a long-term cognitive layer — a calm, intelligent presence designed to remember the things founders forget. These Terms of Service govern your use of the Echo mobile applications, the website at talktoecho.com, and any related services (together, “Echo”).
We've written this document the same way Echo speaks: plain, precise, and without theatre. If anything below is unclear, write to hello@believemy.com and a human will reply.
Acceptance
By creating an account, installing the app, or otherwise using Echo, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Echo.
You confirm that you are at least 16 years old, that you can form a binding contract under the law that applies to you, and that you are not barred from using Echo under any applicable law.
Your account
You sign in to Echo with Apple Sign In or Google Sign In. You are responsible for safeguarding access to the Apple ID or Google account you use, and for everything that happens under your Echo account.
One human, one account. Don't share your account with someone else, and don't pretend to be someone you're not. If you believe your account has been compromised, write to hello@believemy.com.
What Echo grants you
We grant you a personal, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Echo on devices you own or control, for your own personal or professional reflection. Nothing more, nothing less.
You may not:
- ·copy, modify, or create derivative works of Echo;
- ·reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract Echo's source code;
- ·resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit Echo or its outputs;
- ·use Echo to build a competing product or to train another model.
Your reflections, your memory
Everything you record into Echo — voice, video, text, transcripts, insights derived from your entries — belongs to you. Echo holds them in your name, never trades them, never trains external models on them, and never shares them with advertisers. The full doctrine lives in our Privacy Policy.
You grant Echo only the limited permissions strictly necessary to operate the service: to store your content securely, to process it on your behalf (transcription, summarization, pattern recognition), and to display it back to you across your devices. That permission ends the moment you delete the content or your account.
Subscription & billing
Some Echo features are free. Some require a paid subscription, billed through Apple App Store or Google Play and managed entirely in your device's subscription settings.
Billing
Auto-renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the period ends.
Billing
Cancellation
Cancel anytime in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Access continues until the end of the paid period.
Billing
Price changes
If we change pricing, we'll notify you at least 30 days in advance and you'll have the chance to cancel before the new price applies.
Billing
Refunds
Refunds are handled by Apple and Google according to their policies. We're happy to help you contact them if needed.
Acceptable use
Echo is built for honest, personal reflection. Don't use it to:
- ▲violate any law, regulation, or third-party right;
- ▲store or share content that is illegal, harmful, harassing, or hateful;
- ▲infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy;
- ▲introduce malware, scrape the service, or interfere with its operation;
- ▲circumvent rate limits, security measures, or access controls;
- ▲impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice, in proportion to the severity of the violation.
AI outputs & accuracy
Echo uses AI to transcribe, summarize, and reflect patterns from your own entries. AI is not infallible — transcripts may contain errors, summaries may misread tone, and observations may be incomplete or wrong.
Echo is a co-founder, not a doctor, lawyer, financial advisor, or therapist. Reflections from Echo are not professional advice and must not be relied on for medical, legal, financial, or psychiatric decisions. Use your judgment, and consult a qualified human professional when the stakes warrant it.
Our intellectual property
The Echo name, the orb mark, the application, the website, and all underlying software, designs, and content are our property or the property of our licensors, and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you no rights to our trademarks, logos, or brand assets.
We welcome feedback. Anything you voluntarily share with us about Echo (suggestions, ideas, bug reports) may be used by us without compensation or obligation, while remaining your idea to use as you wish.
Third-party services
Echo runs on top of services provided by Apple, Google, Supabase, Cloudflare, and a small number of carefully selected processors listed in our Privacy Policy. Their terms apply to your use of those services through Echo. We choose them carefully but we cannot be responsible for their independent acts or outages.
Termination
You may terminate your relationship with Echo at any time by deleting your account from inside the app. We will permanently erase your content within 30 days, except for what we are legally required to retain.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if continuing to provide Echo to you becomes commercially unreasonable. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, governing law) will survive.
Disclaimer & liability
Echo is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Echo and its team are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, revenue, or opportunity, arising out of or relating to your use of Echo. Our total cumulative liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of Echo will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim or (b) one hundred euros (€100).
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations. Where they don't, the limitation applies to the greatest extent permitted.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will notify you in the app and by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. The version number and last-updated date at the top of this page will always reflect the current Terms. Continued use of Echo after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of France, without regard to its conflict of law principles. The courts of Paris have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms, except where mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.

End of terms
Echo is a quiet contract. The shorter the rules, the deeper the trust they make possible.
